Parish: St Saviour

Sold: July 2020

Every sale has a story, but it’s not often that a story comes along with so much heart-warming serendipity for both the buyer and the seller.

The property owners moved overseas a number of years ago and so the house was tenanted during this time with Le Gallais acting as the managing agents.

When the vendors made the decision to sell earlier this year, they naturally asked the sales team to assist.

A house with local heritage

The property was once part of an ancient farm that was acquired by St Michael's School as pupil numbers grew through the 1960s and '70s. The cottages were home to the Carnegie family (the school owners) in the early years and The Old Nursery was originally the kindergarten for the youngest pupils.

As modern extensions were added to the school in the 1980s the cottages were renovated and sold off to private owners and the nursery once again sits within a charming courtyard of similar houses and cottages, quietly tucked away in the corner of the development.

The property was offered for sale in lovely condition and featured a fabulous large garden and terrace, the perfect space for a growing family to play, as many nursery school pupils had done for many years before.

A sale that was meant to be

When Andrea, one of the buyers, saw the property come onto the market, she recognised it immediately as she attended St Michael's School and started out at the nursery school.

By coincidence, with her connections to the school, she still continues to help each year with the St Michael’s Charity Christmas Sale established by the Carnegie family.

The buyers were a young couple who were hoping to get married the weekend following their first viewing of the property, however the Covid-19 lockdown unfortunately postponed their wedding day. They loved the house and their offer was accepted the day before their cancelled wedding day, so there was at least some good news for them.

The sale finally completed on Friday 17th July and they got married on Saturday 18th July.

Buy, marry, and move in!

The best coincidence of all was the vendors selling the Old Nursery celebrate their wedding anniversary on the 19th of July (albeit they married in 2003) and they moved into the newly renovated house after their wedding too!

The sale completed in a relatively quick timeframe as the young purchasers were keen to buy, marry and move in.

A big thank you from the seller

The vendors were thrilled, after working with them as their managing agents, that our sales team achieved the sale they were after in a short timeframe. After the sale was completed, the vendors contacted us with this kind response:

”Thank you so much for your efforts and for making such a quick sale! We'd also love to say thank you to the whole Le Gallais team for everything they've done for us in looking after our home the past few years while we've been away from the Island".
