Jersey Cheshire Home's Big Build 201713/06/17
Supporting the island's community has been at the heart of our values as a business for over 190 years. As part of this year's commitment to local charities, F. Le Gallais & Sons are proud to have contributed to Jersey Cheshire Home’s Big Build Project 2017 with a donation of £8,000 to provide a dedicated treatment room.
The £2 million project will create an increased number of rooms at Jersey Cheshire Home to accommodate more residents. It will also improve many of the existing bedrooms and provide much needed new and expanded facilities for residents, staff and the 400 plus regular monthly users of the home’s amenities.
The extension to Eric Young House is timely as demand for services provided by Jersey Cheshire Home is growing, and it is essential that the needs of the community can be met in the years ahead. Apart from providing round-the-clock care to the 25 permanent residents, over 400 people a month of all ages currently use the facilities provided by Jersey Cheshire Home.
It costs £6,000 a day to run the home, and while the average length of stay at other local care/residential facilities is between six and 18 months, the average stay at Jersey Cheshire Home is 15 years.
Expansion & refurbishment
The expansion plans centre on the construction of a first floor extension of the home building above the car park at the north side of the building.
In addition to three new en-suite bedrooms and the complete refurbishment of six other residential rooms, the remodelled home will include a dedicated therapy/treatment room as well as an adaptable multipurpose area for meetings, training and residents activities. Other improvements are to include a new staff room as well as a second bed/wheelchair lift and an enhanced nurses station.
Improving quality of life
Le Gallais are proud to support Jersey Cheshire Home’s Big Build Project 2017, and look forward to seeing the new and improved facilities which will improve the quality of life for many local people.
